WISHH launches new promotion film

12 November 2024

WISHH, the official charity of Hull Hospitals, is giving supporters, donors and sponsors an invaluable behind-the-scenes look at where their hard-earned fundraising monies are being spent and inspire further giving.

Launching WISHH Film Web 1

This week, WISHH is launching a new promotional film which gives an insight to how the charity has been helping to enhance Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital in ways which are above and beyond what the NHS can achieve alone.

The film features footage from the charity’s recent appeals, including the ‘Space to Grow Appeal’, which saw the creation of a sensory room, specialist training facilities, siblings play area and a quiet room for families within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Hull Women and Children’s Hospital. The film also shows where monies in support of the ‘By Your Side Appeal’ were spent, and which have enabled parents/carers to stay by the side of the area’s sickest children whilst they receive care by enhancing five family accommodation rooms, a family space and children’s play area.

These achievements would not have been realised without the support given to WISHH from incredible fundraisers and donors.

The film also gives viewers an insight to some of the other specialties and services supported by WISHH, including the Queen’s Centre and Castle Hill Hospital.  The charity has supported quiet rooms for patients and families, visitor accommodation, and provided additional equipment to assist with cancer care.  Indoor and outdoor spaces have been transformed for patients and staff to take a break from clinical areas, and there are many examples of incredible technology that has been funded to help diagnose medical conditions, such as cardiac imaging.  WISHH has also enhanced the independent living facilities within the Complex Rehabilitation Unit for patients recovering form brain injury, and much more!

The film has been made possible due to funding secured by WISHH from the Matthew Good Foundation to cover the entire cost of the making of the film, working in partnership with Big Picture Charity Films.

Jen Murden, Communications and Impact Manager of the Matthew Good Foundation said,

“We first discovered WISHH through the John Good Group’s Employee Giving Programme. Based in Hull, the Group’s employees have frequently reached out to us, seeking to support WISHH with donations as a gesture of gratitude after they, or a family member have received lifesaving treatment at one of Hull’s Hospitals.

“We have been extremely impressed by the wide a range of ways in which WISHH enhances the local hospitals, providing valuable resources that go beyond NHS capabilities and benefiting both staff and patients. Because so much of their vital work often goes unnoticed by the general public, we offered to fund this film as part of our Amplify Charity Films programme. We hope it will shine a light on the extraordinary impact of their contributions and help garner more of the support they truly deserve.”

Lisa Whitton, WISHH Charity Manager said,

“We would like to thank the Matthew Good Foundation and Big Picture Charity Films for making this film a reality for us. It’s a great way for us to illustrate how WISHH helps make a real difference across Hull Hospitals to the benefit of over 600,000 patients each year. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved through the generosity of those who have supported our charity to date.  However, there’s still so much more we would love to do to make our hospitals a better place. We are hoping this film will inspire members of our community to come together to help WISHH, either through fundraising or support for our appeals, in order to help make our big ambitions a reality for our hospitals and the patients they care for.”
