Already at low availability, this show will take audiences back in time on a musical journey through the incredible career of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Featuring songs such as Sherry, Let’s Hang On, Big Girl’s Don’t Cry, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You and many, many more! That’s not all…Gather your friends, put on your most fabulous outfit and get ready for a night of glitz, glamour, and pure entertainment with The Dazzling Diamonds (Thursday 16 January). As the festive season comes to a close, audiences are invited to enjoy the encore screening of the magical adventure of The Nutcracker (Friday 10 January), presented by Royal Ballet and Opera. Marvel at the brilliance of Tchaikovsky’s score, the gorgeous period designs by Julia Trevelyan Oman, and keep in the spirit of festivity, combining the thrill of the fairy tale with spectacular dancing.

As part of the Hull Truck Screen programme and ongoing partnership with Hull Independent Cinema (HIC), you can enjoy three screenings throughout the month of January. Oscar winner Cillian Murphy delivers a stunning performance as devoted father Bill Furlong in Small Things Like These (12A) (Saturday 11 January), based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Claire Keegan and about the complicit silence of a small Irish town controlled by the Catholic Church. No Other Land (15) (Thursday 23 January) is an unflinching account of a community's mass expulsion and acts as a creative resistance to Apartheid and a search for a path towards equality and justice. And finally, new documentary from Hull based Nova Studios, Burning Bridges (18) (Saturday 25 January) traces the story of Paul Burwell’s life, the story of an artist who pushed ever closer to the edges - and then went over. The film will be followed by a Q&A with director Matt Stephenson, executive producer Michael Barnes-Wynters and a special guest.

The Art of Andalucia (Saturday 25 January) will offer audiences an immersive experience where the dancers take centre stage, bringing the passion and energy of flamenco dance to Hull once again. If that wasn’t enough Daniel Martinez will also perform new pieces from his highly anticipated album. You can also witness the talent of dancers from JHS Dance Company as they showcase students work from across Hull in Everybody Dance (Saturday 18 January).

For those looking to try something new, why not consider signing up to try your hand at stand-up comedy with An Introduction to Stand-Up comedy with Kevin Precious? The short course will take place every Wednesday evening over a six-week period (Wednesday 22 January – Wednesday 26 February). Get stuck in and try writing and performing stand-up comedy with a friendly group of participants, culminating with each participant getting the opportunity to perform their first gig on Wednesday 5 March.

Mike Linwood, Comedy Course graduate of Year 2020, said:

“Kevin expertly taught us the basics of stand up and allowed us the freedom to work and develop our own styles and routines. I've made lots of like-minded friends, and I have worked with many fellow graduates of the course who now form the basis of the comedy scene in and around Hull. I now perform regularly on the regional circuit, and I owe it to what I learnt on this course.”
