RSPCA Hull & East Riding is proud to have become a T.I.C (Tourette’s Syndrome) Friendly Charity

23 January 2025

RSPCA Hull & East Riding is proud to announce that its become a T.I.C Friendly charity after our Managers and Team Leaders at the Animal Care Centre successfully completed the Tourette’s Syndrome Training, delivered by the TIC Yorkshire. This milestone continues our commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive environment for all who engage with our work—whether as volunteers, staff, or members of the community.

The training recognises how people living with the condition have feeling of being isolated and misunderstood and supports organisations like ours to respond with empathy and understanding. By adopting this approach, RSPCA Hull & East Riding is enhancing its ability to support individuals who may have faced challenges in their lives, creating a space where everyone feels safe, valued, and included.

The training supports the charity’s ethos of being “Kind for Every Kind”, extending its well-known compassion for animals to the people who care for them. This aligns with its drive to provide an inclusive volunteering environment, where individuals from all backgrounds can feel empowered to contribute to the charity’s mission of rehabilitating and rehoming animals in the local area.

Matt Wright, Partnership Manager for RSPCA Hull and East Riding said:

“We’re thrilled to have completed the TIC Friendly Training. It’s an invaluable step in ensuring that our Animal Care Centre is not only a safe haven for animals but also a supportive and welcoming space for our volunteers, staff, and visitors. The Tourette’s Syndrome training strengthens our ability to be truly inclusive, allowing us to live out our commitment to kindness for every kind.”

RSPCA Hull & East Riding’s adoption of T.I.C Friendly practices demonstrates its leadership in fostering positive change, setting an example for other organisations to follow.
