We are looking for an innovative, data-led professional with experience of managing high-functioning student recruitment teams to provide strategic leadership and day-to-day support for the Schools and Colleges Liaison team. The successful candidate will have demonstratable knowledge of UK student recruitment and school and college feeders; and experience devising and executing student recruitment strategy to maximise on applications, offers and ultimately enrolments from regions within the UK.
 

The Schools and Colleges Liaison team is responsible for: developing and managing relationships with target and feeder schools and colleges; providing high-quality, on-brand and consistent information, advice and guidance (IAG) to Years 12 and 13 prospective students locally, regionally and nationally; driving growth in applications from key target schools and colleges; supporting teachers and advisers and raising brand awareness with influencer audiences.

An ability to build successful relationships with senior stakeholders internally (academic and professional services) and externally (teachers, advisers, parents, supporters, partners and collaborators) is also crucial.

Joining at a time of significant change and opportunity, the Head of Schools and Colleges Liaison will drive continuous improvement alongside other teams in the directorate that positions the University of Hull competitively and increases student applications and enrolments from all UK markets. 


Main tasks and duties 

• To provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management for the Schools and Colleges Liaison team, including: the line management and development of the Student Recruitment Managers.

• To serve as an institutional expert in matters relating to schools and college feeders.

• To be accountable for risk management and safeguarding (including the development, regular review and communication of processes and guidance) for all activity delivered by the Schools and Colleges Liaison team, ensuring compliance with all mandatory training and legal requirements.

• With the Director of UK Student Recruitment, agree, monitor and evaluate team objectives that will contribute to the delivery of growth from UK markets, including success measures and timeframes.

• To support the Director of UK Student Recruitment with the management of budgets relating to expenditure on activity, in conjunction with the Heads of Events and Applicant Experience, and Access and HOP (Humber Outreach Programme) ensuring that resource is appropriately allocated and deployed within agreed levels.

• To ensure that schools and colleges liaison activity for post-16 students is targeted effectively through a data and evidence-led approach.

• To work collaboratively with the Strategy and Insight team, and Heads of Faculty Strategy and Planning, to ensure that, where appropriate, internal and external data is used consistently and effectively for developing a schools and colleges strategy and targets.

• To work closely with the Head of Access and HOP, to ensure that pre-16 outreach feeds into the recruitment pipeline where appropriate, and that the institutional outreach provision for all Key Stages, works across the piece.

• To work closely and collaboratively with Marketing colleagues; to advise upon and contribute to the development of marketing, digital and advertising projects/campaigns; to ensure that the planning, delivery and evaluation of marketing activity is aligned to support recruitment and conversion objectives and targets.

• To keep abreast of developments within HE and other government policy, and of any other external drivers (including competitor behaviour), to identify and mitigate any negative impact on recruitment targets and practices, and to maximise on any opportunities presented.
