5 August 2024

Humberside Police are the latest organisation to sign up to North Lincolnshire Council’s Fostering Friendly Scheme supporting and championing fostering in the community.

North Lincolnshire Council and Fostering Friendly

Humberside Police already have active policies in place to support employees who foster, or who wish to foster, so it was a natural step for them to sign up to the scheme in North Lincolnshire, reiterating their commitment to all our children and young people.

The fostering team are proud to have Humberside Police on board and keen to develop this continuing partnership within the community.

Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for children, families, and communities, said: “Being fostering friendly to me is being part of North Lincolnshire and I’m proud that Humberside Police are championing this alongside us.

“Seeing yet another organisation embracing a fostering friendly ethos reiterates further how all our children are our priorities. Humberside Police as a central organisation to our community pledging their support for employees who foster, and our most vulnerable children is a partnership I’m keen to see continue to develop moving forward.”

Chief Superintendent Paul French of Humberside Police, said: “We’re proud to support our staff and officers who are foster parents already or wish to foster, as we recognise the tremendous impact that doing so can have for children and young people in care.

“By signing up to the Fostering Friendly Scheme we continue our commitment, ensuring that we have the necessary policies in place to enable colleagues in North Lincolnshire to do the best for the children in their care.”

The scheme in North Lincolnshire has been active since March 2023 and is continuing to grow with over 25 local businesses, organisations, and employers pledging their public show of support to champion fostering, the inspirational impact foster carers have on the lives of our children and young people and the difference any of us can make.

This year has seen Scunthorpe United F.C. join the scheme alongside Messingham Martial Arts, Rands Solicitors, EC Surfacing and The Winterton Federation who signed up at the launch in March 2023. Each member offers something different and bespoke to their organisation which may include offering work experience and adaptations to HR policies for foster carers in employment.
