Did you know that there is a world-class jewellery craft training centre in Bridlington? No, we didn’t know either!

Trailblazing for impact

A Humber organisation, HEY Smile Foundation, has been at the forefront of Green Social Prescribing (GSP) and it’s proven to have been a success. This pioneering scheme has changed lives across the region through linking up people experiencing mental health issues such as anxiety and depression with nature-based projects and activities.

HEY Smile Foundation has secured additional funding from the National Lottery’s Community Fund to continue their life-changing work, which is sure to have an ongoing impact on people in Humber and beyond.

Celebrating our industrial heritage

A new exhibition has opened in Goole looking at the history of the town’s Burton’s factory. The factory, which was operational from the 1940s to 2019 employed hundreds of local people and is a big part of Goole’s industrial and social heritage.

The Burton's factory may no longer be in Goole manufacturing suits and the industries we have in the area may have evolved and transformed but the importance of the factory both in shaping the local community and contributing to Goole's status as an industrial powerhouse will no doubt be overtly celebrated.

The exhibition is open at Goole Museum until March 2025 and is free to enter.

Powering ahead to net zero

As part of NHS Humber Health Partnership’s drive to lower their carbon footprint, they have entered into a partnership with Humber company myenergi to make it easier for their staff to own and run an electric car.

The partnership gives a significant discount to HHP’s staff enabling them to charge at home and take advantage of cost savings as well as reducing their commuting emissions. It’s part of a larger scheme which has so far seen investment in solar panels and improved energy efficiency in buildings.

Proactive planting

And finally.... Humber Forest has reported remarkable numbers – they've planted 238,000 in the last 12 months, which makes 400,000 trees since the project began. The community forest for Hull, East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire plays a vital role in reducing soil erosion and flooding, improving air quality, creating habitats for wildlife, and improving community spaces.
