Beal managers hailed as construction site stars in housebuilding industry awards

18 October 2024

Two site managers from East Yorkshire-based housebuilder Beal Homes have been recognised for the outstanding quality of their work with prestigious industry awards.

Jason Amies

Jason Amies and Danny Towle have been honoured in the National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards.

Running for more than 40 years, the awards are the most highly regarded in the industry, providing a benchmark for exceptional site managers and inspiring housebuilders to leave a legacy of homes built to the highest quality standards.

Jason Amies, Site Manager at Beal’s Turpin’s Chase development in Welton, East Yorkshire, won not just one, but two accolades in the North East regional awards, taking home both a Seal of Excellence Award and being named as the overall Regional Winner in the Medium Builder category.

Jason has more than 20 years of experience in site manager roles within the construction industry and has been with Beal for six years.

Jason said: “I was really surprised when I found out I had won the award, I don’t think it sunk in until much later. I strive for the highest quality every day, so I just feel like I’m doing my job!

“I’ve previously won awards during my time in construction, but this was a much more intense and rigorous process than any other awards scheme I’ve taken part in, so I feel really proud to have been successful.

“Any site manager is only as good as his team and my team always give 110 per cent. I’m lucky to have quality team members on site who always go above and beyond.

“The leadership team also push us to strive towards the very best quality, so the award has only been possible thanks to a whole team effort.”

Fellow Site Manager Danny Towle was also recognised with a Seal of Excellence Award in the East Region.

With 20 years of industry experience, Danny joined the Beal team six years ago as a Home Finisher and worked his way up to managing construction of the Bishop’s Green development in Welton, Lincolnshire.

Danny said: “I am overjoyed and so proud to have won the Seal of Excellence Award, especially as this is my first year as a Site Manager. My site team are all amazing and this wouldn’t have been possible without them.

“The leadership team at Beal have been massively helpful. They believed in me and gave me the opportunities to progress in my career, so I feel like this award is my way of paying them back and showing they were right to put their trust in me to take on this role.

“I feel incredibly proud to say I work for Beal Homes. The whole team is constantly striving to improve and produce the highest quality homes for our customers.”

Judging for the Pride in the Job Awards is rigorous, with each site manager assessed by fellow housebuilding industry professionals across six key areas – consistency; attention to detail; leadership; interpretation of drawings and specifications; technical expertise; and health and safety.

Jason and Danny were both previously awarded Quality Awards at an earlier stage of the competition and surpassed hundreds of other Site Managers to secure their Seal of Excellence Awards.

Regional Award winner Jason will now be judged again and will go head-to-head with regional winners from across the country to compete for the national Supreme Awards, which will be revealed in January 2025.

Beal Contracts Manager Wayne Edmond said: “The whole Beal team are incredibly proud of Danny and Jason for their achievements.

“The Pride in the Job Awards are the housebuilding industry construction Oscars, so to win not just one, but two, Seals of Excellence, as well as having one of our site managers named as a regional winner is amazing.

“Having worked my way up from being a site manager with other housebuilders, I have first-hand experience of managing a high-quality site and I aim to use my experience to guide each of our site managers and inspire them to strive to produce the very best quality.”

Beal Construction Director Andy Devine added: “It’s great that Jason and Danny have achieved these accolades and are flying the flag for Beal in the industry.

“I’m really proud of our entire construction team and the outstanding quality of work they all produce, day after day.

“Beal buyers are able to enjoy homes of exceptional quality because our site-based teams are committed to the highest standards in everything they do.”

This is the second successive year that family-run Beal has been recognised in the Pride in the Job Awards, with Phil Evenden, Site Manager at Beal’s West Hill II development in Kirk Ella, East Yorkshire, among last year’s winners.
