Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways at Hull City Council, said: “The council is delighted to be working with Stagecoach East Midlands to bring this popular service back for a second year and provide those shopping or enjoying a day out in Hull city centre with an alternative and more sustainable transport option in the build-up to Christmas.
“Whether you are doing a bit of a shopping or getting together with family and friends to celebrate the season, the park and ride service provides a safe, convenient and cost-effective travel option helping reduce some of the hassle of finding a car parking space.
“We are also pleased to be bringing in these extra services in time for the Christmas lights switch-on on Thursday (21 November).”
Matt Cranwell, managing director at Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “We are proud to deliver the Hull Park and Ride service from Priory Park, and to continue to extend this into the Christmas period, as we have done last year. It was incredibly successful last year, enabling people to pop into the city centre for some Christmas shopping or socialising with family and friends. Once again, we hope the people of Hull take the opportunity to hop on a safe and cost-effective travel alternative this Christmas.”
