As a member of the Future Humber Board of Directors I truly look forward to working with Future Humber to shape the new Humber narrative, promoting the region's identity, strengths and opportunities to regional, national and international audiences.

As we work to prioritise people, place, partnerships, and the planet with the mission to make a difference, influence and inspire all communities so that opportunities for investment and growth accelerate through our dynamic Humber narrative, we recently invited the Future Humber Board of Directors and Advisory Board Members to experience the Reckitt sponsored Hull ice-hockey team who should be seen as a real asset to our community and one that we should be proud of, playing the world's fastest team game, at our very own Hull Ice-Arena on Sunday 17 March 2024.

The Hull Reckitt Seahawks are making a name for our city, our region. and themselves in the National Ice Hockey League, gaining acclaim in national tabloids, storming to the league finals as contenders for the top spot.

As title sponsors of the Hull Reckitt Seahawks who share Hull as a birthplace, we have benefitted from the team's success, with exposure throughout the UK and an increased awareness in Hull, as well as a wealth of employee benefits for our 1,800 Hull Campus colleagues.

As a global business deeply rooted in Hull and committed to health, it is our objective to support the club to build a sustainable offering, make a real impact in the community and contribute to the Humber Narrative.

Ice-hockey is integral to our region's identity, as a "grass-roots" sport which has been prevalent in our region since 1988 when the (then) Humberside County Council founded the Humberside Seahawks. The team recently returned to the original Seahawks name under new ownership, attracting several international players as well as home grown talent.

Councillor Mike Ross performed the ceremonial puck-drop on Sunday, which saw the Hull Reckitt Seahawks face-off against the Swindon Wildcats.

The Swindon Wildcats were fierce competition, coming to Hull after back-to-back victories over the Sheffield Steeldogs where they dominated the Hull Reckitt Seahawks Yorkshire rivals, but fell short with a 6-4 loss against the Hull Reckitt Seahawks. Despite the score it was a narrow defeat with Scottish born goalkeeper Jordan Mclaughlin being crowned "Man of the Match" by Future Humber Chair, Bill Walker.

"Future Humber's mission is to bring Bondholder businesses and key partners together to strengthen and unify the Humber's voice to external audiences promoting the area as a great place to live, work, study, invest and visit." - Diana Taylor, Managing Director

The partnership is providing us with valuable insights through the implementation of internal and external surveys.

It is our aim to be recognised as the birthplace of the world's most recognisable and trusted consumer brands in Hygiene, Health, and Nutrition. It is affirming to learn, through an external survey promoted by the Hull Reckitt Seahawks, that 71% of people who completed the survey in our region feel that "Reckitt, Hull has a deep heritage and is home to the world's most loved and trusted hygiene, health and nutrition brands".

The teams success is not possible without the backing of local businesses, for whom the return on investment is significant.

If you'd like to know more about how you can support the Hull Reckitt Seahawks as they prepare for the 2024/25 NIHL ice-hockey season please contact my PA, Hannah Wilson, Hannah.wilson@reckitt.com who will share details of the available sponsorship packages and support you to schedule a meeting with the Hull Reckitt Seahawks Team Owners.
