Why get involved?

P.A.U.L For Brain Recovery is a UK registered charity (1164620) that exists to make life easier after Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) by providing support, guidance and education sessions to empower all affected. We also campaign to improve services, raise awareness, and promote understanding.

- ABI is a chronic condition with ‘hidden’ disabilities and life-long consequences

- In the UK, every 90 seconds there is a hospital admission for ABI

As a charity founded by a brain injury survivor, we have a real understanding of the daily, lifelong challenges faced during recovery. For many, brain injury recovery can be a long, challenging journey with many ups and downs. Some people struggle to maintain their relationships, friendships, and the normal daily routines they had before their injury.

We provide specialist community support sessions that are designed to aid a better recovery and help our service users take positive steps towards reaching their new potential after brain injury. This incorporates dedicated one-to-one, physical and social engagement sessions and education workshops to support emotional and physical wellbeing.

Our free sessions and activities ultimately help service users to:

  • Avoid crisis
  • Manage a life-changing disability which can often be ‘invisible’ to others
  • Learn to accept that they have a chronic condition
  • Feel understood and supported amongst new friends that share a similar lived experience
  • Improve quality of life and reach their new potential
