Two Ridings Community Foundation is a major regional grant maker in East & North Yorkshire, Hull and York. Generous support from individuals, businesses, councils and other funders has seen them distribute over £19 million since 2000 to thousands of small community organisations all over the region.
Those organisations tackle the most pressing challenges facing our society today. Issues like poverty, loneliness and the mental health crisis. The support, advice and essential services they provide enrich the lives of thousands of local people, enabling communities to survive and thrive.
In 2023 £432,225 was distributed to community groups in Hull, and £228,378 to charitable organisations in East Riding. £1.3 million is being distributed by Two Riding to enable groups in Hull to tackle loneliness and encourage volunteering through the Government’s Know Your Neighbourhood Fund.
As expert advisors on giving and philanthropy, donors trust Two Ridings’ understanding of the real issues affecting local people and their ability to reach the communities most often unseen and unknown by other funders. Some donors set up funds with the Foundation, others leave a legacy and many supporters give to a collective fund relating to a specific issue or place-based fund to make an impact locally to them.
The Hull Community Fund launches in July 2024, giving local Hull businesses and individuals the opportunity to invest in a long-term fund to directly support local people in Hull. Community organisations will be able to apply annually for support to address issues affecting their neighbourhoods.
Two Ridings also run the successful HEY Confident Futures leadership network bringing together over 450 leaders in Hull and East Yorkshire at all stages of leadership.
The network encourages collaboration, shares resources and host of series of insightful events. The annual New to Leadership programme is a life changing opportunity for new leaders in the voluntary sector which impacts not only the people involved, but also their teams, the organisations they work for, the sector and the region at large.
Two Ridings believes in collaboration, connection and strong partnerships. This makes our whole region stronger and empowers the people and communities within it. Being a Bondholder member enables us to forge stronger connections in the region and collaboratively make positive change for everyone.
